Today's youth seem to be disconnected from responsibility, societies outside their environment and their right to dream and achieve beyond their individual situations and lifestyles. We have found that environmental factors have an adverse affect on developmental and child rearing skills, with respect to young females who are the mothers and primary caregivers of tomorrow’s youth. There are a growing number of teen mothers who live and come from poverty stricken environments which in some cases disables their understanding of the privileges and responsibilities associated with child rearing. Delta House exists today to improve the educational goals, parental skills and good citizenship capabilities of these young mothers.
Delta House handles these issues head-on and develops the resident’s self esteem through providing a positive and nurturing environment with exposure to positive role models (Delta House Staff & Community Outreach Representatives) and constant reinforcement of the vision of change through education and self empowerment. Delta House has been operating for three years, servicing at risk youth and young adults mothers. Our seeds of "change" are being planted, sowed and slowly blossoming within our current and past residents.
Our program utilizes a "12 steps to success" ideology which is a process that utilizes an array of curriculums and is implemented daily and supervised by our staff to improve and/or develop self sufficient parenting young ladies.
Delta House’s program emphasizes a strong concern and focus on avoiding repeat pregnancy to increase our resident’s opportunities and drive in life.
